The 2010 RoPs had a single provision (Rule 3) on the status of the African Commission, which was defined as ‘an autonomous treaty body within the framework of the African Union to promote human and peoples’ rights and ensure their protection in Africa’. The 2020 RoPs now, however, has several parts.
